Affiliate Tool of the Week - Common Backlinks Tool

Sunday, July 15th, 2007

This tool seemed a bit unimportant at first glance but then I thought that it might really be useful if you are looking for really good links!

If 2 or 3 of your competitors have a link from a site, well you need that link too!

This tool, the Common Backlinks Tool, allows you to enter up to 10 domains and get a list of the common backlinks for the sites.

The information does seem to slightly dated, but it’s very helpful after all!

What Keywords are my Competitors Using?

Monday, July 2nd, 2007
According to their web site, “KeyCompete is the answer to this question. KeyCompete is an online keyword research tool that identifies the keywords your competitors are using in their pay-per-click campaigns.

KeyCompete also identifies the competition that is bidding on your keywords.”

From what I have heard from others this is not an outrageous claim at all. I spent some time experimenting with it this weekend and it actually does live up to the hype!

I especially like the frequency of updates they make. I looked into our own stuff and it was very accurate.

Friday, March 2nd, 2007

Affiliate Tool of the Week - SEOBOOK

Monday, February 19th, 2007
So far, SEOBOOK may just be the most informative, accurate, and easiest to navigate SEO site I have seen.

According to the site:

SEO Book.com is a leading SEO blog by Aaron Wall covering the search space. It offers marketing tips, search analysis, and whatever random rants come to mind. ;) The first version of my popular SEO Book came out in December of 2003. I have propably revised it about 50 times since then.

The site has so much information, you literally have to be careful not to overwhelm yourself.

Affiliate Tool of the Week - ViewSourceWith

Monday, February 12th, 2007

Apparently ViewSourceWith has been around for a while but I did not know about it…

I am not much of a programmer or designer, but our tech guys and designers love this tool.

Essentiall it allows you to choose the editor that is used when you “View Source” on a Firefox page. You can also use several editors (such as Dreamweaver, HomeSite, or Frontpage) and toggle easily between them.

Affiliate Tool of the Week - Xenu Link Sleuth

Monday, January 15th, 2007
Despite the semi-creepy images on their homepage, so far the best tool we have found for checking broken links is Xenu’s Link Sleuth.

According to their site Xenu’s Link Sleuth ™ checks Web sites for broken links. Link verification is done on “normal” links, images, frames, plug-ins, backgrounds, local image maps, style sheets, scripts and java applets.

It displays a continously updated list of URLs which you can sort by different criteria. A report can be produced at any time.

Additional features:

  • Simple, no-frills user-interface
  • Can re-check broken links (useful for temporary network errors)
  • Simple report format, can also be e-mailed
  • Executable file smaller than 1MB
  • Supports SSL websites (”https:// “)
  • Partial testing of ftp and gopher sites
  • Detects and reports redirected URLs

Affiliate Tool of the Week - Keyword Tumbler

Monday, January 8th, 2007

I found this a while back but did not have the time to test it until recently. I found it to be one of the best tools for adding keywords to your PPC campaigns.

According to the Keyword Tumbler web site:

Keyword Tumbler is a free keyword research marketing tool that takes your existing keyword phrase and generates multiple variations of it, simply by mixing the words in each keyword phrase around.

Why would you want to do this?

Well according to Amit Singhal, principal scientist at Google, a guy who really should know what he’s talking about, over 50% of the 200 million searches performed a day on Google have never been searched before!

And let’s not forget what Perry Marshall, author of the Definitive Guide to Google AdWords said at Carl Galletti’s Internet Marketing Superconference in June 2004: “Every combination of keywords that somebody could conceivably type in on Google is a market.”

Keyword Tumbler helps you build huge keyword lists in seconds!

So check out the Keyword Tumbler and see for yourself!
